My sense of it is that they are people who see opportunties but overestimate their ability to handle the cultural and adminstrative differences between Australia and Cuba/Dominican Republic/China/Russia and to interpret the impact of the geopolitical environment on AAU projects. Some of it is bad luck, but there's a good chuck of bad judgement there (me too for hanging in for so long). Having met Brian and others in the company, I didn't see any desire to rip off anyone.
Barring some surprise, it feels like its all over now, so I now only have a token holding. For everyone who still has a significant holding, I genuinely wish you luck and hope I am wrong (happy to buy back in if I am wrong).
