Ah I have just remembered, those small black cows were called Dexters, they had a really bad reputation.
@Margaret63, This was all with my first husband, he had a really flash job in London with a great salary, but chucked it all in as we were obsessed with leading The Good Life I must admit that I have become a bit more squeamish as I have got older. But this is how people used to live.
Really tbh this is how we should be all living, not as we do now. Not knowing where our food comes from etc. It was bloody hard work, but good fun as well. My girls were really young and it was a great start in life for them too.
We also had goats and ducks and heaven knows what else, happy days
