So what if the Bible were released for the first time today? Millions around the world are only seeing it for the first time now and are accepting it. Wouldn't be the case for Darwin. The French Science academy dismissed him as a quack (he later got in in another field). They'd laugh themselves silly now -
"Now Mr Darwin, let's get this clearly - you are proposing to our esteemed assembly that through a blind and random process of genetic mutation, increasingly complex and varied life-forms would develop and ultimately result in our own ascent (or descent, if you are watching from the trees with your supposed cousins)" [snickers and muffled guffaws from the assembled scientists..] "And how long would this take, did you say, Mr Darwin?" [embarassed members leave after wetting themselves in their mirth]
