Where are these millions being introduced to the bible for the first time (that is they have had no exposure to it what so ever in the past) today and accepting it.
The only place this may be happening (and it would not be in the millions) is developing countries. Not quite the same thing to campare what is being accepted by uneducated people in developing countries as what would be acceptable by educated people in developed countries not to mention the scientific community.
To use your little example of Darwin presenting his theory to the scientific community today image the same group hearing the bible for the first time.

Commandments hand from some mythical god that were caved in stone.
