thecook: re divorce rates at 75% - yep, this statistic keeps growing and we should ask the question "why?". Isn't money often quoted as the main reason for marriage breakups? And if it is a question of cheating on your spouse, then we should also ask "why?" - what was wrong with your original life that you went off to look at greener brighter pastures.

Hanrahan: re who am I angry with - I am angry with a lot of people, mainly our governments which waste our taxes, and politicians who work only to benefit their sweet retirement funds at the expense of the vulnerable and the risk averse in society - savers, carers, retirees, pensioners.

Contrary to what others may think, I am not against capitalism in its pure form - I believe in and honour the individual's right to profit, but not when it comes at the expense and suffering of others. That takes us back to the feudal system, to the dark ages.

As a reader once commented on a NY Times article: "Serfs believed the church and the nobility when they were told their suffering and struggle was as a result of God's Will. We believe the bankers and the wealthy when they tell us that our survival is dependent upon us sacrificing our lives and families to their wealth creation machine. Who is the more gullible?"
