In chemical processes, having a consistent and well-defined feedstock is critical for stable operations and achieving desired recovery rates and purity. Since the feed for the Hub comes directly from the Spoke, it’s important to understand the total recovery rates across both steps. The piloting trials seem to focus on the Hub’s hydromet process, but what about the losses from the Spoke? With the new EU regulations, recovery rates will need to be considered for the entire process! Not just one part.
You mentioned adjustments to the Spoke, and I agree that’s worth exploring. But Spoke technology for black mass production is already commercially available in China and other parts of Asia. So why is this particular Spoke described as complex? Could there be an issue with the quality or consistency of the feedstock it’s producing for the Hub?
These questions are key to understanding how scalable this “integrated” system really is and whether it can meet regulatory and commercial requirements. Hopefully, we’ll get more clarity as things progress.
