With 4 seasons, this series looks like being a social history of Italy for the period 1950s to 1990s maybe especially with respect to Naples which has traditionally been the poor relation of the more affluent north. I expect to see social/family attitudes change as well to a more free, less patriarchal and church dominated society. Already at the start of series 2 there are signs of change in economic conditions.
