The major fault and cause of much of the mayhem and butchery of the Muslim world is that only men have a voice in their more radical societies.
The softening effect of the female point of view is silent - or silenced would be a better way of putting it.
Women are oppressed in word, and oppressed by archaic, meaningless dress codes, and by threat of punishment by death if they dare show a shred of rebelliousness or independent thinking. Men in their own family, fathers, brothers, uncles, will see them murdered if they are found guilty, and they are always found guilty, even when innocent. And no one, even the older female relatives, bats an eyelid. As we all know, the male instigator always goes scot free.
How can women's situations be irmpoved if they are denied the freedoms of education and access to modern values.
Imagine our own society if men ruled absolutely, and women had no vote and no voice, and were required to stay home under the veiled rule. Although ours IS still very much a patriarchial society, Western women have the right to speak up and have their say, and strongly influence outcomes. And strongly influence their children's upbringing, values and attitudes.
Sadly, many Muslim women are just baby-producing machines. Barefoot and pregnant, and doing what they're told.
