Many thanks for that. I've not been to South Africa and don't know any recent ex-pats from there, so I appreciate any up-to-date information I can get about the real state of affairs.
Regarding that article you mentioned: those who are presently so infatuated with West Africa's goldies might not be quite so enthusiastic if they thought that their sovereign risk exposures were in step with those of South Africa.
South Africa produces 75%-80% of the world's annual supply of platinum, such that the price of it would probably leap up if South African mine output was disrupted, so maybe a punt on platinum (say ETPMPT) is in order.
As for FML, I'm hoping for announcements extending the known areas of mineralisation at Treasure Island.
