For goodness sake - stop being so reflexively simplistic - my comment was not about social or cultural aspects of the Trump movement - I endorsed many of the stands against COVID imperialism, border insecurity, cancelation of woke critics, gender dystopian policies etc ..... my comment was about the economic and strategic implications of his policy on Australia - a supposedly sovereign nation whose interest lie predominantly in Asia.
We are a trading nation - China is our number one trading partner accounting for more than the next 5 biggest trading partner volumes combined !!!
A trade war with China will have severe consequences for Australia .... just ask any wine maker ... the China wine war resulted in exports from Australia falling from A$1000 Million per year to A$50m ...... spread such losses across the board and see how long before any government lasts.
AUKUS is a massive Trojan horse - the subs will never arrive, Australia is paying Billions up front and continuing "to support US and UK ship building", while US forces have been given unfettered access to all our bases, effectively turning Australia into the equivalent of Okinawa ....
And in the meantime 5 out of 6 Collins class submarines are non operational.
Replacement now with off the self modern conventional subs would give us 30 times more subs for the money, and these could defend our waters, NOT be part of the IOUSA fleet parked off the coast of China .... in the SOUTH CHINA SEA through which passes 90% of China's trade.
Most of the military bases now home to the IOUSA forces have become defacto nuclear targets ..... with friends like America, who needs enemies ??
PJ Keating and Garth Evans have eloquently outlined the full extent of this sellout by both Labor and Coalition Quislings.
Australia is not, should not be a junior partner in the NATO alliance - we are geographically a South Asian nation and thats where our interest lie.
China is an ally of Indonesia .... god help Australia if Indonesia turns on us .... the illegal migrant flood gates would be open, and our trade would be decimated ..... I could go on .... so stop throwing empty baseless Woke insults at anyone who triggers you FFS.
