Not true actually.

Between 2003 and 2006 gold rose considerably and all at the same time as US interest rates skyrocketed.

This is due to the fact that Gold is used as a hedge against inflation.

If the US ever does go into hyperinflation then expect interest rates to go to heights that no-one has ever though of to try to contain it and also expect Gold to go to heights that no-one has ever thought of.

Some interesting times ahead me thinks :P
