I'm not pro-union, FYI. Read my comment in the other thread about this. This is not about pay, though the media seems to be spinning it as that.
The unionists have come out with some pretty shocking stories on social media about what this is allegedly actually about and it sounds like pure incompetence on the part of WOW. Ideas dreamed up by some middle manager trying to replicate amazon, poorly. Abusive warehouse conditions.
I read one story on social media from a worker claiming he worked there and a manager called him out on the PA for taking too long in the bathroom. Apparently the performance guidelines are completely disconnected from the reality on the ground and actually make work go slower!
They brought this situation on themselves and have now burnt shareholder capital and continued the long term trend of pissing off customers.
It's not an isolated mistake. They should now be attempting to fully automate the warehouse ASAP because they've burnt their social capital.
