Is there a formulae that determines how much income a company has to earn in Australia before they can pay a (franked) dividend. ie if EMR only earned 10% of their income in Aus, does that limit the amount of dividend income they can issue.

I know some of you also hold shares in AUC, as do I, and EMR has been bandied about as a potential buyer. Note that is merely bulletin board speculation. AUC is about 1000km down the road so probably nearer options to the NLGP.

If there is no rule that limits the dividends that can be paid when a company is making some money in Aus - then Cambodia, with a far lower AISC would seem a far better option.

    TIA to those far wiser
p.s. as a UK resident, not sure the franking brings any benefits
