The article itself states the project with the University is complementary to a series of other existing projects.
Intel’s project with Mercedes Benz is one project for radar.
Brainchip and Mercedes Benz ‘Hey Mercedes’ key word spotting project is one project. Mercedes Benz in the initial reveal at CES made clear there were other projects where AKIDA technology was being considered.
As for the radar project we need look no further than the statements by Dr. Guerci CEO at ISL where he states that AKD1000 was not designed to process radar but that he and his team had worked out how to use it for that purpose.
Brainchip has stated a number of times that AKD1000’s sweet spot is processing LiDar.
It makes sense that in a funded project Mercedes Benz would use the Intel Loihi chip if it’s raw design allows for radar processing.
This funded project is not funded to find a neuromorphic chip and redesign it to process radar and then manufacture it, and then trial it with radar.
To suggest that Mercedes Benz has abandoned all other neuromorphic chip makers in favour of using Intel’s Loihi 2 is not supported by this article nor by someone saying ask Mercedes Benz.
Brainchip has not removed the Mercedes Benz logo from its website.
At this stage I personally will continue to accept that they are still engaged until actual evidence that they are not is produced.
