BOO (Build own operate) is the norm in new mining projects in WA and not just Government & private utilities.
Probably the biggest is the Liontown contract with Zenith, this includes solar, wind turbines, Battery banks as well as a ICE powered system for when the wind don’t blow & the sun don’t shine (night time). If you go to Zenith’s website you’ll see they have quite a suite of customers including Chevron - yes even big companies like Chevron use BOO.
The rationale is these mining companies need power (off grid) and don’t want the associated capex with building & maintaining power infrastructure, so companies like Zenith step in and provide the full service & just charge the power used out by the KWH. There are lot’s of companies like Zenith, years ago these companies didn’t operate on the BOO model, but merely built & maintained the power infrastructure of the client which the client owned, however most is BOO these days.
Talus operate a similar system, they are the experts at this modular GA, this is outside our field of expertise & should be left to the experts.
