Could be a multitude of reasons for todays SP rise, but I do think the market is starting to appreciate just how desperately valuable gas will become over the next few years. This opportunity for investment is only presenting because of an idealistic, nonsensical left wing attitude that "gas is bad!" and "we must reduce our C02 emissions!" Please look at the below image and tell me that if we don't drill for gas, that we will make a positive impact on C02 emissions being reduced. We have an ever increasing demand for gas for both general usage and for electricity usage, meanwhile we have a falling gas supply across the East, particularly in Basin's that have been operating for decades (Moranbah is a great example until new management and new drilling took place so now on a growth trajectory). I firmly believe that we should leave (at least try to) the world in a better place for future generations, and taking a greener approach should be attempted, but to completely demonise, red tape and destroy an industry so critical to day to day function of civilisation is moronic. Gas projects also don't just pop up over night. Months/years of exploration, infrastructure building etc are needed. Those with the gas at the right time will be rewarded.
