When you keep bending over backwards and ticking the DEI hire box, eventually it all comes crumbling down. This was a full-blown hard-core male dominated industry for centuries, now all of a sudden they need 50/50 genders working out in the middle of nowhere for weeks at a time and then expect there's not going to be trouble...FFS. Boofheads or not... no one cared as you needed big strong guys that just take orders and get the job done. A lot of the time you can train people up, the "skills" they require are actually turning up on time, working hard, getting the job done safely and shutting the fu*k up. I was actively supervising a mining production crew for many years and I'd rather be supervising a bunch of boofheads than the lazy pansy delicate ladies who think it's going to be glamorous breaking into a male dominated industry in tough unforgiving remote locations. This was always going to end badly.
