yes you are going down the right track, but, try to fool around with the swing points a bit more, to get the feel for what you are doing.
Like the ORG chart, try the lowest low on the page, and the top will line up with the resistance tine perfectly (on unadjusted data).
I have never come up with a good set of rules on the magnitude of a swing. I just try to get things to fit.
