Hi Spockie, Putting a gas pipeline across a road would be a minor hassle and not even a headache. The way the do it is close half the road, dig a trench, install the pipe and then backfill (all across half the road). They then do a rinse and repeat on the other half.
Requirements Say two council workers to put out signs and direct traffic while each half of the road is closed plus a truck to repair the bitumen when the pipe installation is finished.
