The Qld labour Govt did try to get a dam built, it would have started construction rounda about now, but the local farmers & businesses & greenies were totally against it. Then the feds canned it last year or so due to EIS issues.
The State govt lost a motza on seized land as a result. Of course the usual suspects came out criticising the govt for losing money on the deal.... these are the same people who would squeal like pigs if a dam were to be built in their backyards.
We all want more dams, prisons, railway tracks, highways... so long as its not in our backyards...
