PL6 conclusion: we need even faster circuits to harvest all the advantages of the improved circuitrees but imec sadly cannot supply the improovement. I'm thinking in that moment of truth imec- and probably 4DS BOD come to conclusion that the have to find somebody relevant to save us-quickly...The biggest culprit in this mishap is "maybe" imec-- PL3 was a serious construction error which required Ting to intervene and deplore some knowledge(genius) of his and some lab magic from Stanford the rest is just PL4 history. Mr David McCullif- s manuvering this recent "missunerstanding" and inventing the Infineon "Blackbox" (which by the way is a good description of unknown transistor array gonna be used by them) In that blackbox after a year or moore maybe a superfast memory array and maybe a gigabite size or a solution for it. Now- nobady can R&D better than IMEC so after Infineon who by the way have the right for 4 examle GAAFET to be integrated onto 4DS memory array. Is no need to assasinate(figuratively) the BOD or Mr David McCulliff or anybody as matter of fackt but we have to decide wether we are with them or against them... We have been told that there is a trade off between retention and endurance at the same speed for our memory cells.

To increase retention, the cell can be written with a higher voltage or for a longer pulse duration, but this reduces endurance- there is a trade off.

The current required to write to a 20nm cell is 9x smaller than the 60nm cell, because our power consumption reduces with cell size- being a non filamentary technology.

But what happens if the Dory platform itself cannot function if power is cut 9x? (I.e if the transistors cease working properly with this type of power drop? Entirely feasible as 4DS are the first memory fabricated on 20nm Dory and Imec have not dealt with non filamentary memory at the bleeding edge before- only "me too" filamentary technology.)

Then 4ds can prove 20nm lot works with 9x the power, but there will be a loss of endurance and its upper limit cannot be characterised. Similarly the lower limit of retention too cannot be characterised. This is only because Dory can't operate with 9x less power.

Hence the need for a new platform designed by Infineon that can run on 9x less power. Come in spinner.

Absolutely outstanding responses from you both. My guess is you have both hit the nail on the head. I'd say these analysis are very close to what is happening.

How much better would the SP have been if this had all been disclosed and explained! I'd say it would have gone up, not down, and the CR would have succeeded at a much higher price.
