China is reportedly being ravaged by a mysterious viral outbreak that is overwhelming some hospitals and prompting people to wear face masks again. Videos on social media appear to show hospital units overwhelmed with crowds of patients, and parents holding sick children in long queues in pediatric units late at night. There have also been unverified reports online that crematoriums are overwhelmed.
The videos and lack of official commentary have led some to draw similarities with the early days of the Covid outbreak.This has been reported by a number of news agencies.
This may be nothing....... But it does highlight the fact that there may be another pandemic at any point in time. We are not immune.
China is facing a new virus outbreak, with the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) spreading rapidly, causing flu-like and COVID-19-like symptoms. Reports and social media posts suggest that the virus is spreading rapidly. Videos shared online show crowded hospitals, with some users saying that multiple viruses, including influenza A, HMPV, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Covid-19, are circulating.
There are even claims that China has declared a state of emergency, though this has not been confirmed. HMPV is known to cause flu-like symptoms and can also present symptoms similar to Covid-19. Health officials are closely monitoring the situation as the virus spreads.

Currently, there is no specific antiviral therapy to treat HMPV and no vaccine to prevent HMPV. Medical care is supportive.
