Opaline for someone who is a sensible and geological minded person you seem to have an awful bee in your bonnet. There is a serious lack of hard evidence that current weather phenomenons are due to AGW and indeed the fact that we have had worse events in the past seems to indicate that in fact there is no link whatsoever to climate change.

The whole climate argument is being shunned by every politician in australia because they sense that the electorate has bigger things on its mind like keeping a job, electricity prices, or their house flooding. For Australia to sign up to carbon pricing while the rest of the world doesnt is madness and will kneecap australian industry.

Climate politics is more and more run by the politics of envy than for any serious economic long term planning. El Nina has created more effect than australias entire carbon output ever has.

The fact that sea levels have changed by 5 metres locally to my home town Perth 4 times in the last 50000 years tells me that humanity's influence on the sea is minimal - AGW is nonsense.

I am not an environmental denier - humanity clearly is a blight on this planet. But adopting carbon pricing in australia while the rest of the west doesnt is barmy.
