Moose I think your on the right track in what you have said in your last posts.
I think that PL5 is working just fine but I think to get the best out of the 4DS tech they need the other hardware to be able to do some trick stuff that normal devices are not able to do. If they don't have it then they are not going to stand out in crowd apart from speed, endurance, power saving and retention. Not to say doing all that is not good enough but maybe the new bit of hardware will be the icing on the cake.
I think we all just have to sit back and see where this one leads.
If not its best to get out because we need to give the trust back to 4DS to get this tech finished.
Pretty much all of us here have not a clue what this tech potentially can do.
The ones that do are sitting doing their job to the best of their ability to get this product finished and ready for sale.
At this point you either have to trust in them or get out.
