T4me, not at all. There's no correlation in what you wrote. Populations have increased significantly, so more people die per event. The mudslide deaths in Brazil probably couldn't have occurred pre-1975 as so much forest has been cleared there - allowing the mud to slide.
In any case, how many people died in the 35 years before 1975 due to natural disasters?
