Imagine a real-time ledger that instantly notifies all market participants of every buy and sell transaction and the who.
Such transparency could eliminate the "casino-like" aspects of trading, provide regulatory bodies with better tools to identify questionable trades, and restore trust in the system.
However, despite the technology being available, it’s unlikely to happen. Why? Because implementing it would disrupt the current system, removing the advantages for bankers and speculative traders.
It would shift the focus back to the original purpose of holding stocks: genuine investment.
