I have seen footage of this barbaric practice and it makes me sick and also makes me wonder just how far we (well some people) have come since cave men days. We should be angry at the slaughter of whales and seals etc like this, we should also be up in arms over the way our live sheep are treated when they go to the middle east. On special religious festival days the moslems are aloud to fetch and kill their own sheep. They squash sheep, sometimes several at a time into boots of cars - in 50degree heat, I have seen footage fo them being dragged behind cars. When they are slaughtered it is not by professional butchers but by ordinary men with sometimes, not so sharp knives. The sheep are not fed or watered, they are treated with complete disregard as a living beings. It is said that they must slaughter with the animal facing the right way but I know here in abbotoirs the Imam (or whoever it is )just cuts the throat of the first amimal of the day and then the rest go through as usual, so really it is all a load of rubbish and just symbolism.
