Vodafone database still vulnerable, say experts.
Security expert Mark Gregory from RMIT University in Melbourne said Vodafone had obviously not been using best practice and had ''participated in one of the most serious breaches of customer security in Australian history''.

Vodafone is scrambling to fix major holes in its security systems after it was revealed that its customer database including names, addresses, identity details and call records were easily accessed by the shared logins used by employees in a store from any computer.

This website has been told the information was passed around to people outside the company, sold or given to criminal groups. This week Vodafone announced it had sacked a number of staff for breaking into databases to steal customer information and had referred the matter to police.
