p.s. subsequently to 1987, I experimented with dilutions of povidone-iodine (from Betadine antiseptic solution) in my own nose (i.e. a clinical trial sample of one), but it always caused stinging irritation. Hats off to Peter for having overcome that problem. I wish he had invited me to collaborate and my paranoia would not have been avoided.
