    Pretty well nails it.

    Another difference is National Interest can often be specified and quantified.

    Public Interest... often very subjective.... akin to what flavour of ice cream do you like.

    i.e. Say Defence... them der.....day the enemy. We fight them. They/it's identifiable without equivocation

    Public Interest ? Fares of public transport...

    Do folk see the trends ??
