BoQ has been closing branches - like all other banks - and banking staff have been declining for decades in Australia. I worked in a bank for 12 months in the late '70's when every thing was manual. Lot has changed since. I left the bank at about the time of mass mergers creating the "Big 4" as we know it today.
I think Aussie banks will still operate in the Pacific - and really do think they should. In many small Pacific islands, they do prove stability in those small countries banking systems. New Zealand also makes sense given the amount of Australians and New Zealanders travelling between the two countries.
Can you let us know what you have heard about the TO of BoQ? I'd be very interested to know what is going on there.
