MNM ....
ASX Release 19 January 2011
Latrobe Valley Coal Project Applications.
Mantle Mining Corporation Limited (ASX: MNM) ?Mantle?, is pleased
to advise that it has been granted priority status over three coal
Exploration Licence applications adjacent to Victoria?s Latrobe Valley.
Highlights:
ELs 5336, 7 and 8 cover a combined area of 556km2 in the highly prospective
Gippsland Basin, located immediately adjacent to the Latrobe Valley (Figure 1).
The majority of remaining unallocated brown coal in the Latrobe Valley lies in
the ?S7 Exemption Area?. Importantly, Mantle?s ELs abut this exemption area.
The tenements contain many historically defined brown and black coal seams
that were mined from the late 1800?s variably through to the mid 1900?s.
Coal deposits were historically mined around Thorpdale to the north, Berry?s
Creek to the south-west and at Won Wron to the south-east (Figure 2).
Mantle considers the potential for discovery of additional (brown and black) coal
deposits and extensions of these historic areas to be very high.
Mantle is seeking to apply brown coal upgrade technology and define additional
black coal deposits in order to develop a new export coal industry.
