Yes ...all valid points , Proga . Clearly , Verner can't resolve the dispute by "one on one " personal intervention .
The Board's responsibility ( and composition , particularly Jose Caldeira ) has to do all within its framework and power , to resolve the impasse ..as they have stated they are doing in the Quarterly :
Sustained efforts by the Company and Government authorities to resolve the protest actions through dialogue with
protestors and host community leaders, and legal avenues, continue.
Syrah is committed to achieving a positive resolution of the protest and addressing all legitimate resettlement and
community concerns through the appropriate consultative and dispute resolution mechanisms. Syrah also expects that the
new Mozambique Government will support efforts to resolve the protest actions at Balama.
There are two dates given to work towards , wherein the US Dept of Commerce will supply further directives on tariffs ..13th March and then 27th May .
By those dates , one would hope there is Resolution to the Disputes ...and the Balama Plant can be in a position , to re-start .
Therein lays the next dilemma --as you rightly draw to attention .If you can't manufacture it , and sell it at a profit ..why manufacture it ??
But ..if the PLANT can't operate , then you can't manufacture it , so you can't sell it ,,,because you can't guarantee supply .!!!
Perhaps we come back to , what is currently most important RIGHT NOW , in the overall Scheme of ISSUES confronting SYR .
Does it start with....the VALIDATION of the spherical graphite being currently produced at Vidalia , accepted in a Binding Contract by Tesla ( and others ) ...that at least makes SYR profitable bankable revenue , and "enables "them to validate the escalation to a 45k Plant , albeit a three year exercise from the get go date ???
Your comment ..that the Biden Administration played this very badly ( no doubt driven by OEM pressures) is spot on .....and whilst I haven't recently looked , the number of vehicle and battery factory PLANTS now reaching BUILD COMPLETION status , will likely be just sitting idle for a long period , with resultant job losses , unless SYRAH (and Novonix , in synthetic ) can start to offer product .
