There has been an update regarding the extortion of funds from Contractors by employees of Norton Goldfields. (The West 22/12/24)

Zijin Mining the parent company has launched an investigation into the Norton Goldfields Kickback scheme after sources claimed Contractors and Suppliers were being coerced into paying certain staff off the books to keep doing Business. As a result of the findings Zijin confirmed an employee has had their employment terminated. Other Staff have been suspended or re-assigned, had administrative penalties, been admonished and rotated to other roles. It is not known if Norton Goldfields will reimburse the Contractors and Suppliers. AFP have declined to reveal if they are investigating the matter.
Norton Goldfields has said it is taking allegations raised against a small number of employees seriously and has emailled its suppliers and "Business Partners" on behalf of Zijin Mining outlining an Anticorruption Campaign. Norton Goldfields has two main Gold Mining hubs in WA - Paddington and Binduli, Both near Kalgoorlie. (The West 3/02/2025)
