Looking at yesterday’s data I note reported gross short sales as a % of issued capital reported as being sold short down another 55% on recent daily sales. Over 3 days trading decline has been from 14% to 9% to 4%. Cautionary note though that these figures are generally more helpful though for a day trader as a guide to helping assess the here and now by attempt to separate short term Short Flow and longer term Short Interest movement. In general for a stock like CU6 such short flow is strongly related to any calculated buy and sell order imbalances whereas short interest is more closely aligned to the calculated mispricing of fundamentals. This is because short flow movement traders are more intuitively sensitive to announced or suspected upcoming news events as against their short interest longer play counterparts. Statistically the gains - if any, from such daily release information rarely extend beyond 15 - 20 days whereas the level of short interest being fundamentally biased is statistically inversely proportional to past performance. In the case of CU6 its current short interest exposure of 2.28% is a level that I would class as being statistically insignificant. Hope my opinion above may help some on what is a very devise subject and often a subject of much over thought expression. Be aware for sure of shorter for sure. Be aware of their different types and the signals each of their trading styles may highlight but stay safe and focused both Traders and Investors for there is no Laplace Demon.
