Have you ever thought that perhaps the references to global warming in all those papers you mentioned is that that is how the game is played? As global warming is the panic du jour it is only logical that research refers to it. Scientists have families to feed and bills to pay and research grants to obtain. Why wouldn't they refer to everything in terms of global warming as that is what the customer (whoever is paying for the research) wants? They aren't stupid as they know that "the trend is your friend till the bend in the end", the only thing to consider is when to jump off the sinking ship and onto the next panic.
