    Hi Illywhacker, that might be a good topic to look into.

    Given your age (90+ from the information in your post) you probably have a better idea about that than me. (I've only been contributing payments to government ministers for about 40 years rather than your 80 years.) As well as climate, over the past forty years they've had oversight of a lot of other environmental matters. I do know that since at least the 1970's, Australian scientists have been studying the effect of the increasing greenhouse gases on our climate, and related matters. Much of past research and current research is funded by taxpayers, some would currently be funded by farmers and some by industry and there are a number of Australian businesses selling, inventing and/or developing clean power technologies.

    I agree with what you implied - governments need to get a move on in regard to making sure we all cut back on greenhouse gas emissions, such as by replacing coal-fired power plants with cleaner power sources. If it's only left up to individuals and business, we might not make enough cuts in time and future decades could get distinctly uncomfortable.
