There is no point on sitting on a large capital gain with a low yield & a high liability of CGT when you are forced to sell.
Simply, pick stocks you own that are showing a capital loss & sell them. You can buy them back. You are now showing a capital loss for the current financial year. You can now sell the appropriate number of CBA shares to match the capital gain with the capital loss.
You now have cash in hand, a capital gain, no CGT to pay & a lessened CGT liability. It is not rocket science.
