The Maunder minimum was widely recognised as a decrease in the solar constant but according to the published work of P. Foukal, C. Fro ̈hlich, H. Spruit & T. M. L. Wigley;
"Overall, we can find no evidence for solar luminosity variations of sufficient amplitude to drive significant climate variations on cen- tennial, millennial and even million-year timescales."
