With the debottlenecking projects, in Maroota (NSW) is at full capacity with RIC having to transport some product elsewhere for rendering. More than $10 million in capex will be expended at this location. Payback should occur within three to four years.
Laverton (Victoria) will see less than $2 million expended: payback in two to three years.
Tallow and meal prices were a $4 million headwind in 1H 25.
RIC has seen a small increase in the tallow price in the last few months, up $100 at $1300 to $1350 a tonne, but this is still down 10 per cent on a year ago. Used cooking oil imports from Asia into the USA were high volume, impacting soy oil produced in the USA and imports there of tallow. RIC hopes this a positive sign for pricing after soy oil production has been consumed.
