The FTSE fell by less than one point (.005%), the DAX rose 138 points (.62%) and the CAC fell 63 points (.78%).
The DAX rose mainly on the certainty caused by the election in Germany.
EU inflation for January rose to 2.5% (highest since July 24). EU inflation has been rising since the low point of 1.7% in September 24. Core inflation was steady at 2.7%
UK inflation for January rose to 3% (2.8% expected).
US markets were largely in the red overnight.
The DOW did manage a small rise of 33 points (.076%), the NBI fell 27 points (.61%), the NASDAQ Composite fell 237% (1.21%) and the Russell small cap index fell 17 points (.78%).
Data showed the consumers and businesses have become more concerned about the impact of Trumps tariff plans.
Trump announced that tariffs on Canada and Mexico "will go forward on time and on schedule".
January PCE data will be released on Friday (US time). PCE is the US Fed's preferred measure of inflation.
US Treasury 10 year bond yield fell to 4.399%. The fall in the bond yield over the last week is surprising given the weakness in the US stock markets.
Oil prices were steady - Brent crude is at US$74.35 per barrel.
Gold price edged up to US$2,951 per oz. Some softness in the silver price.
BITCOIN fell to US$94,087.
