Don't think you realise how easy it is to "forecast" numbers and make them work to whatever your boss wants them to be.
Have you even been a banker, how many 3-statement financial models have you prepared? In investment banking? In equity research? Heck, even corporate FP&A? Sounds like you're just insecure and trying to justify whatever that appeases your fragile ego.
That's ok, nothing wrong with trying to feel safe. Tomorrow's announcement I'm positive will be there to "save" you from your worst nightmare. But then. Time will tell who will make the most out of all this situation. Not here to make a killing, just enough to prove something that everyone else seems to want to attack despite my track record. Oh, but the firm will stand to gain, in all transparency.
