My thoughts?
Firstly, I’m pleased/relieved to see that they have managed to finalise a deal this quarter.
They did state in the last 4C that “
the Company has been engaged in licensing negotiations that would provide the capital necessary to continue the current Phase III clinical trial. These conversations are anticipated to conclude in early 2025. If a licensing agreement is unable to be executed, the Company will consider other steps to raise further capital to continue its research.” So hopefully this means that those “
other steps to raise further capital” won’t be necessary.
I am assuming that the “exclusive license and development agreement” relates to the TPM CBD capsule and trial. I have previously expressed concern that a deal at this point, prior to interim results, may not be a great deal, but we’ll see. The key thing at this point is that it ensures funding at least through to interim readout.
As for who the deal might be with, Paul has previously stated that interest in the TPM CBD capsule had come from a range of groups. These included Australian pharmacy chains, who would be seeking to market AVE’s CBD capsule under their own brand, Australian generic pharma, global generic pharma/consumer health companies and larger global pharma whose interest was more in a prescription product.
Obviously, that leaves a long list of possibilities!
It would be really nice if it was one of the global pharma that had the capability to take this product beyond Australia, if successful, but that said, I’d also really hope they haven’t signed away global rights just for funding through to interim results.
