    Eagle, can you provide a source that states categorically that Abbott doesn't want to help Queenslanders? That's a pretty harsh statement and I can't find anywhere that it is true.

    Accusing those against the levy as not caring seems to be a common theme on forums and newspaper article comments. It is so consistent that it gives one the impression it is planned propoganda.

    The article below shows that Abbott feels there are other ways to fund the repairs in the existing budget WITHOUT taxing the people. IMO this would also describe the general view of those opposing this new tax. Here's the first paragraph from the article:

    "Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott says he is prepared to work with the Prime Minister to find money in the budget to replace the Government's proposed flood levy."

    IMO, if this current labor government had a better track record at project and fiscal management, I think there would be a lot less opposition to this particular tax.
