There is without a shadow of doubt very good and compelling reasons for the US Defence Dept to be interested in Brainchip and its AKIDA technology.

Only this morning @rayz found and shared AKIDA technology being used in a Drone to locate areas of soil suitable for reafforestation. As a result we now have clear independent proof of AKIDA technology actually performant in a Drone for a real world application.

Add in the following statement of Dr. Joseph Guerci, CEO of ISL a partner with Brainchip in the US Airforce Research Laboratory radar contract speaking about the use of AKIDA for electronic warfare:

"This is the thing that changes everything.

So now you see this little UAV coming in, and you don't think for a second that it could do, you know, the most sophisticated electronic warfare functions, for example pulse sorting, feature identification, geolocation, all these things that require, you know, thousands of lines of code and lots of high-speed embedded computing, all of a sudden it's done on a postage stamp.

    That's the crazy thing.

And by the way, in my research we've done it, we've implemented pulse, the interleaving, we've implemented, you know, ATR, specifically on the Brainchip from Australia…’" - Dr. Joseph Guerci CEO ISL

Then tie in Bascom Hunter's purchase of $US100,000 worth of AKD1500 chips and the already released 3U VTX SNAP Card which relies on 5 x AKD1000 chips to perform the following:

    APPLICATIONS

A single SNAP Card, deployed on an airborne ISR platform, occupying only one 3U VPX slot, could deploy up to five complex machine learning algorithms across each of its onboard processors to perform the following missions simultaneously.

    – Automated Target Recognition (ATR) on full motion video feeds and imagery (to include 4k and higher)– Real-time detection and identification of threat radars and their acquisition/operating modes– Detection of FISINT (Foreign Instrumentation Signature Intelligence) and/or hacking across the airframe’s 1553 communications bus– Perform communications analysis to include speech-to-text and foreign language translation of intercepted communications– Fuse multiple infrared cameras (e.g., SWIR, MWIR, LWIR) to provide a combined infrared operating picture on the ground Multi-user, simultaneous modulation/demodulation

The reality becomes that AKIDA technologies have the potential to be essential elements of the US Defence capabilities particularly considering the COTS savings of AKIDA against GPU technologies.

Presently China is flexing its muscles in Australia's area of influence and has already been shown to not respect our borders or IP protections. The US also has the China Taiwan TSMC issue to contend with, that at any time could become a Defence vulnerability given TSMC's dominance in the chip industry.

So with President Trump and conservative Republicans pursuing an isolationist policy they could easily see merit in Brainchip being wholly located within their borders particularly as they have already proven that AKD1500 can be fabricated in 22nm FDSOI by Global Foundries a US Defence approved foundry.

Not really a pleasant idea to contemplate but far from being an outlandish or illogical idea given what is happening at the moment in the USA and of course China.
