I see Amin Abbosh has funds to explore further potential applications of the EM imaging system - the IP rights of which are now owned by EMV.
Long way down the track but for those looking at a long term (10 year+) hold, could bear fruit in that time frame.

Project description
Are you passionate about developing novel research and shaping the future of electromagnetic imaging?
We are recruiting a motivated PhD candidate for an exciting project on portable, real-time, non-invasive medical imaging.
This research focuses on designing compact, multi-polarized, body-matched antennas and AI-driven reconstruction techniques for advanced diagnostics, with an emphasis on knee injury detection and musculoskeletal assessments.
For this scholarship, you will use CST or HFSS and programming tools like Python or MATLAB for system design, simulation, and imaging. The project involves antenna design, modeling, experimental validation, and imaging algorithms. You will also conduct lab tests and should be comfortable working in biomedical testing environments, including tissue characterization, animal tests, and clinical trials. Join our leading team and help advance the future of medical imaging!
Research environment
The successful candidate will be embedded within UQ’s world-leading Electromagnetic Innovations (EMAGIN) team, led by Professor Amin Abbosh.
Our multidisciplinary group is at the forefront of biomedical electromagnetic research, developing cutting-edge imaging and diagnostic solutions. We specialize in tissue characterization, modelling, antenna design, advanced signal processing, and AI-driven data analysis, aiming to create innovative and accessible bio-electromagnetic devices.
As a member of our team, you will have access to UQ’s Microwave Lab, equipped with multi-port vector network analyzers, near-field measurement systems, dielectric properties measurement kits, bio-model phantoms, and an anechoic chamber. For computationally intensive simulations, you will utilize UQ’s High-Performance Computing clusters, Bunya and Wiener, featuring state-of-the-art CPUs and GPUs for accelerated processing.
