The advantage for african minerals is that it retains control of 100% of the railway not 66% and so it won't have to deal with an as yet unknown new owner of marampa re joint ownership.
Had a chinese buyer got partial ownership of the railway they may have been able to play silly buggers with AMI (like MCC is doing with CFE) re access issues.
The updated deal is much less complicated for AMI as well as CFE going forward as it eliminates any potential ownership disputes.
Just my opinion.
