Ha ha, good try but some posters completely ignore facts and maraud around the boards trying to rewrite history. (For some reason I always think of Tweedledee and Tweedledum but of course I would never use names like that!!)
I posted on the NAB threads back in 2023 linking info on what really happened during the GFC (Post #: 67638936) after the repeated claims that the Government has given the banks billions in bail outs at various times. The Government has not given the banks billions (or millions) full stop!!
At least those claims subsided for a while but of course they are back at it.
The other nonsense that Aus banks aren't as well governed as US banks is also completely laughable and shows a complete lack of understanding of the industry.
They also ignore the fact that the GFC was so called because it was "Global" and had a profound effect on capital markets worldwide. Australia escaped from the GFC relatively well due to being able to maintain liquidity and Aus banks strong loan books (as opposed to the poor quality in the US!!) enabled the reserve bank to provide the much needed capital!
Of course if you try and give facts they just fall back to personal attacks about being pro bank, as if it is some binary conclusion
I will give them credit, they are masters at deflection and obfuscation.
But anyway it is HC so they can apparently say what they like, good luck to them. At least they get pleasure from each other
