Dolerites seem to be the most important element in Copper deposits in the whole area. But, and its a big but, not all dolerites are associated with a copper deposit.
Most often, dolerites provide the heat source that drives hydrothermal action. But also, they are associated with structures (fault/shears) that coincide with Copper and or gold mineralisation. Also, I have seen little copper sulphide blebs in some dolerites, indicating an association with the dolerites themselves.
