They went looking for high grade zones, it wasn't really about size so much. MEI needed to find a few high grade zones to make the economics more than average. They found some so far (CDM, BDP and AGO). The kicker is it's pretty much all from surface. MEI must have been very happy when they found BDP next door to CDM.
